What might be happening
Based on the information you've provided, the following conditions could be causing your symptoms:
-
Cubital Tunnel Syndrome: This condition occurs when the ulnar nerve, which passes through a tunnel of tissue (the cubital tunnel) near the elbow, becomes compressed or irritated. This can cause numbness and tingling in the ring and small fingers, pain in the forearm, and/or weakness in the hand.
- Treatment often includes avoiding activities that cause symptoms, wearing a splint or supportive brace, and in some cases, surgery.
-
Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD): This is a chronic condition where stomach acid frequently flows back into the tube connecting your mouth and stomach (esophagus). This backwash (acid reflux) can irritate the lining of your esophagus and cause symptoms like heartburn.
- Treatment often includes lifestyle changes and over-the-counter medications. In severe cases, prescription medications or surgery might be needed.
-
Tension Headache: This is the most common type of headache, and it causes a constant ache and pressure around the head, temples, or back of the head and neck. It's often related to stress, depression, or anxiety.
- Over-the-counter pain relievers and lifestyle changes are often effective treatments.
What you can do
- Try to avoid activities that cause your arm symptoms. This might include avoiding keeping your elbow bent for long periods or leaning on your elbow.
- Over-the-counter pain relievers can help with your headache. Try to relax and reduce stress.
- For your chest pain, try over-the-counter antacids. If these don't help, or if your symptoms persist, see a doctor.
- If your symptoms persist or worsen, you should seek medical attention.
What you should look out for
Seek immediate medical attention if:
- Your chest pain becomes severe or is accompanied by other symptoms such as shortness of breath, dizziness, or nausea.
- Your arm symptoms worsen or spread.
- Your headache becomes severe or is accompanied by other symptoms such as vomiting, vision changes, or difficulty speaking.
