What might be happening
Given your symptoms and medical history, the following conditions could be possible:
- Lipomas: These are benign (non-cancerous) fatty lumps that grow under the skin. They are usually soft, movable, and painless. Lipomas can occur in people of any age, but they often appear in middle age. They can appear anywhere on the body, but are most commonly found on the torso, neck, upper thighs, upper arms, and armpits. They can vary in size and number. Lipomas are usually left alone, but can be removed if they are causing discomfort or are growing rapidly.
- Abdominal bloating: This can be due to various reasons such as overeating, eating rich & fatty food, swallowing air while eating or drinking, food intolerance, or certain gastrointestinal disorders. Since you mentioned that your bloating gets worse with certain foods, it's possible that you might have a food intolerance.
- Hot flashes: These are often associated with hormonal changes, but can also be caused by certain medications, lifestyle factors, or medical conditions. Since you mentioned that you've been experiencing hot flashes for several years, it would be worth discussing this with your healthcare provider to determine the underlying cause.
What you can do
- Consult a healthcare provider: Given the duration and number of your symptoms, it would be best to consult a healthcare provider for a thorough evaluation. They may want to perform a physical examination and possibly order some tests to determine the cause of your symptoms.
- Keep a symptom diary: This can help you and your healthcare provider identify any patterns or triggers related to your symptoms. Note down when your symptoms occur, what you were doing at the time, what you had eaten that day, and any other relevant details.
- Maintain a healthy lifestyle: Regular physical activity and a balanced diet can help manage your weight and overall health. Try to incorporate a variety of fruits, vegetables, lean proteins, and whole grains into your diet, and aim for at least 30 minutes of moderate-intensity physical activity most days of the week.
What you should look out for
Watch out for the following symptoms, and seek immediate medical attention if you experience any of them:
- Rapid, unexplained weight loss
- Persistent or worsening abdominal pain
- Blood in your stool or black, tarry stools
- Persistent or high fever
- Difficulty swallowing or breathing
- Persistent or severe diarrhea
