What might be happening

Based on the information you've provided, you are experiencing a low-grade fever, headache, fatigue, and nausea. These symptoms can be associated with a variety of conditions. Here are some possibilities:

  • Viral Infection: This is a common cause of fever, fatigue, and headache. The body's immune response to the virus can cause these symptoms. The nausea could be related to the infection or could be a side effect of the fever.

  • Side Effects of Medication: Topamax, which you recently started taking, can cause side effects such as fever, fatigue, and nausea.

  • Flare-up of a Chronic Condition: Given your history of dysautonomia, gastroparesis, and Ehlers Danlos syndrome, these symptoms could be a flare-up of one of these conditions.

What you can do

  1. Rest and Hydrate: Regardless of the cause, rest and hydration are important when you're not feeling well.

  2. Monitor Your Symptoms: Keep track of your symptoms and if they change or get worse.

  3. Consult Your Doctor: Given your complex medical history, it would be best to consult with your healthcare provider. They can provide a formal assessment and order relevant tests if necessary.

What you should look out for

If you experience any of the following symptoms, seek medical attention immediately:

  • A high fever (over 103°F or 39.4°C) or a fever that lasts more than a few days
  • Severe headache or headache that doesn't improve with over-the-counter medication
  • Difficulty breathing or shortness of breath
  • Severe abdominal pain
  • Any new or worsening symptoms

Are you still having these symptoms? Have you called the doctor to check whether Topomax or a flare-up of your chronic conditions could be related to what you're currently experiencing?
